Ambridge’s Moe Rubenstein Stadium played host to the Class A match-up between top seeded Freedom Bulldogs and the sixteen seed Eden Christian Warriors.
The first ten minutes saw Freedom flirting with goal as Florida Atlantic commit Myla Sharpless rang a turning shot inside the 18 off the crossbar to be followed up with a shot over the crossbar.
Eventually the opportunity opened up as Michaela Watkins fed a pass to Jayden Sharpless to make it 1-0 at the 26 minute mark.
Freedom would quickly add a second goal again by Jayden Sharpless to make it 2-0. Alexsia Barlamas made it 3-0 with a little touch past the goalkeeper Taylor Haring to make it 3-0 going into halftime.
The second half would begin with a quick goal by Myla Sharpless to make it 4-0. The fifth goal was courtesy of a penalty kick buried by Renae Mohrbacher to make it 5-0. Alexsia Barlamas and Jayden Sharpless would each add another goal to finish off the scoring at 7-0.
Freedom’s coach Collin Williams after the game felt there were things they could clean up on defense and move some players if need be to tighten that up.
The scary part is that the veteran coach believe that his team is just getting started as they advance into the second round.
Eden Christian lived up to their name the Warriors. Eden Christian played this game with 11
players. They continually fought throughout the game never backing down and challenging every ball that came their way.
Keeper Taylor Haring stopped 24 of 31 shots on goal with five big saves.
Unfortunately their season came to end today on behalf of the Bulldogs.
Myla Sharpless, a senior that has been part of Freedom’s 2016 WPIAL championship winning side, in her second game back from a knee injury, the touch, vision and
confidence is still there.
With more time she is only going to get stronger as the playoffs continue. With a three-goal outburst sister freshman, Jayden Sharpless has moved her season goal total to 53.
Following @FASDBulldogs 7-0 1st round win, I had a chance to speak with @_MylaSharpless and @JaydenSharpless about Myla’s return back to the field and Jayden’s goal scoring this year. @pghsoccernow @PghSoccerScribe pic.twitter.com/UVK8Hu2hd0

The Bulldogs will meet up with the Springdale Dynamos in the second round at a site and time
yet to be determined. Springdale defeated Chartiers Houston 4-0 at North Allegheny.
