Last week, Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association released its All-State girls team along with its coaching postseason honors for 2019.
Among those chosen included, as is the case when it comes to these post-season awards, it appears more forwards (26) and midfielders (29) while there was just nine defenders and one goalkeeper overall.
From the WPIAL, included forwards: Megan Donnelly (Pine-Richland), Haleigh Finale (South Park), Haleigh Finale (South Park), Taylor Hamlett (Mars), Sarah Schupansky (North Allegheny), Raychel Speicher (Hopewell); Midfielder: Ellie Coffield (Mars), Sarah Nyguyan (Penn-Trafford), Hannah Stuck (Peters Twp), Breana Valentovish (Seneca Valley) Goalkeepers: Maddy Neundorfer (Gateway).
The lone WPIAL coach honored as the Coach of the Year was Mars’ Blair Gerlach, who led the Planets to its second PIAA title and its sixth WPIAL, after an impeccable season.
