A few years ago, the Pittsburgh area didn’t have any teams competing in the United Soccer League’s men’s fourth division entity, USL League Two.
Beginning in 2026, after Steel City FC made its debut in the league a year ago, they’ll be joined by Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2.
Both clubs will compete in the League’s Great Forest Division, where they’ll each face a 12-match slate, including a pair of matches pitting the Pittsburgh clubs against each other.
Riverhounds 2 will make its debut on Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m. against the Cleveland Force at Highmark Stadium.
Steel City FC, the defending Great Forest Division champions, will open its season on May 20, when they host the other new squad in the Division, Lorain County Leviathan FC (6 p.m.)
The clubs will face off for the first time at Highmark Stadium, on May 27 (7 p.m.) with the rematch coming a few weeks later, on June 10, at Founders Field.
In addition, Steel City FC are currently training in preparation to face off against Riverhounds’ first team (USL Championship), in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament. That match will be played at Highmark Stadium on March 17 (7 p.m.)
