WPIAL Girls Class 2A Playoff Bracket: North Catholic eyes 3-peat against strengthening field

Click here to find the WPIAL Class 2A Girls Soccer bracket for the 2021 playoff tournament.

First Round – All games to be played on Saturday, October 23

Once again, it’s North Catholic at the top of the Class 2A girls brackets as they are seeking a very rare three-peat.  Winning three straight WPIAL titles doesn’t happen very often, last done (across the WPIAL) by Mars in 2010-12.  The Trojans though are not unbeatable, as they were taken down by section rival Avonworth, who they also defeated in last season’s WPIAL Final. Also lurking are some good teams including Shady Side Academy, who were a perennial WPIAL finalist for many years in Class 1A, along with Elizabeth Forward and Mount Pleasant, who earned section titles against some tough contenders.

Playoff schedule:

  • Prelim (winner is in):  Waynesburg Central vs McGuffey   Saturday, October 23
  • 1st Round:                   Tuesday, October 26
    • North Catholic vs Waynesburg Central/McGuffey winner
    • Elizabeth Forward vs Quaker Valley
    • SSA vs Keystone Oaks
    • Southmoreland vs West Mifflin
    • Mt. Pleasant vs Beaver Area
    • South Park vs Freeport
    • Avonworth vs Burrell
  • Quarterfinal Round     Wednesday,, October 27
  • Semifinal Round          Saturday, October 30
  • Final                             Friday/Saturday, November 5-6 (TBA)

PIAA Playoffs — brackets announced on Sunday, November 7 — with first round to begin Tuesday, November 9
