Duquesne men’s soccer, which returns seven starters from last year’s Atlantic 10 semifinal team, will open the season at James Madison on August 24 as part of the 2023 schedule released today.

DU will also play at Virginia Tech (Aug. 27), at Pitt (Oct. 17) and will host Xavier (Sept. 19) in nonconference games.

The Dukes, in their 11th season under head coach Chase Brooks, will follow their back-to-back season opening games in Virginia with the home opener vs. Bowling Green on Aug. 31.

DU will host Wright State on Sept. 5, before heading to New York to face Niagara on Sept. 9.

Duquesne returns home to face cross-town rival Robert Morris (Sept. 13), Massachusetts (Sept. 16) and Xavier (Sept. 19) in succession. The UMass game, set for a 7:00 p.m. start, is not only the Atlantic 10 opener, but also Alumni Weekend. Xavier, which finished last season with a 42 RPI, is back on the schedule for the first time since 2012, when the Musketeers were members of the A-10.

The Dukes have conference road games at Loyola Chicago (Sept. 23), Saint Joseph’s (Sept. 30) and Davidson (Oct. 4) prior to returning to Rooney Field to face George Mason on Oct. 7.

DU will travel to Olean, N.Y. to face St. Bonaventure in a non-conference game on Oct. 11, before returning home to take on George Washington on Oct. 14.

Crosstown rivals Pitt, a College Cup semifinalist in 2022, hosts the Dukes on Oct. 17.

Duquesne completes the regular season with conference games at Fordham (Oct. 21) and at home versus La Salle (Oct. 28).

Six of the Dukes’ final nine games will be on the road.

The top eight regular-season finishers will compete at the Atlantic 10 Championship with opening round games at the sites of the top four finishers on Nov. 3 & 4. The championship will conclude with semifinal and final games on the campus of the team with the highest remaining seed on Nov. 8 & 12.

Duquesne will play a trio of exhibition matches prior to the season: vs. Saint Francis U (Aug. 13) vs. Detroit Mercy (Aug. 16) and at Virginia (Aug. 19).
