Duquesne women’s soccer 2023 schedule released

From Duquesne University Athletics

Duquesne University women’s soccer team has released its 18-game schedule for the upcoming 2023 fall season.

DU returns a strong core of contributors to the roster after exceeding expectations last fall by earning the five seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship bracket and owning a 6-7-3 record with 17 true freshman, disproving the preseason poll which placed them 10th.

The Dukes will begin the campaign with a road trip to Ohio University on August 17, the second straight year opening against the Bobcats, as the first of eight non-conference matches to start the season.

The home opener is scheduled for Sunday, August 20 at 1 pm against American University, just the second matchup against the Eagles all-time and first since 2006. DU will be right back on the home turf the following Thursday under the lights versus Youngstown State.

The City Game, against Pitt, is set for August 31 at 7 pm across town, after a trek to Morgantown, W.Va. the Sunday prior to take on WVU.

Back-to-back home games against Saint Francis and Farleigh Dickinson on September 3 and 7, set up the non-conference finale at Kent State on September 10 at 1 pm. The match against Farleigh Dickinson will be the first-ever meeting in program history.

Duquesne opens Atlantic 10 Conference action at Davidson on September 14, then will take on Loyola at Rooney Field the following Sunday at 1 pm.

Home matches against UMass (Sept. 28), George Washington (Oct. 12), La Salle (Oct. 15), and Richmond (Oct. 22), and trips to Rhode Island (Sept. 21), St. Bonaventure (Sept. 24), Saint Joseph’s (Oct. 7), and Saint Louis (Oct. 19) round out the schedule.

The regular season finale against Richmond on Oct. 22 at Rooney Field will also be a part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.

The 18 regular season matches will be the most for the Dukes since 2017.
