Robert Morris women’s soccer announces 2023 schedule

From Robert Morris University Athletics report

RMU women’s soccer team released its schedule for the 2023-24 season, head coach Chris Shaw announced.

The Colonials are slated to play a 19-game campaign, including 10 Horizon League contests, as well as one exhibition game opening the season vs. Duquesne on August 9.

“I’m really excited for this upcoming season,” said assistant coach Brianna Murgi.

“We have a ton of young talent returning as well as veteran leadership that will help us make this a successful season. We also have eight newcomers whose presence will have an immediate impact.”

The season starts with four non-conference games on the road at VMI, Hampton, Akron and Saint Francis from Aug 17-27. “We have a challenging out of conference schedule that will prepare us for Horizon League play,” stated Murgi.

The first official home game at the NAC (North Athletic Complex) will be against Indiana State on Aug 31.

Continuing on in the month of September, the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure come to town on Sep 3. This will be Alumni Day for the RMU women’s soccer program. Then, RMU heads out on the road for two more non-conference tilts against Mount Saint Mary’s and Le Moyne College.

Conference play starts at Purdue Fort Wayne for RMU on Sep 14. The first Horizon League game at the North Athletic Complex will be on September 17 vs. Green Bay.

The following week the Colonials visit Milwaukee and then come back to face Wright State.

On September 27, RMU will take on Carlow at Highmark Stadium for one last non-conference battle. Later in the week, Detroit comes to the NAC for another Horizon League match-up on September 30.

Over the next two weeks, the Colonials go on the road to play Oakland and Cleveland State with a bye week in-between games.

Finishing off the regular season campaign, NKU and IUPUI travel to Moon Township on October 15 and October 21. The last conference game of the season will be at Youngstown on October 25.
