WPIAL Soccer Girls Class 2A Quarterfinal Round Scoreboard: Avonworth survives plus South Park, Burrell and Shady Side Academy advance

On Saturday, the WPIAL Girls Soccer Class 2A playoffs reached the quarterfinal round as top seeded Avonworth survived a scare, rallying with two late second half goals to overtake Quaker Valley.

In addition, all of the lower seeded road teams in the other matches advanced, as South Park dominated Freeport, Shady Side Academy beat North Catholic and Burrell stunned No. 3 Mount Pleasant.

There weren’t that many surprises in either bracket in the first round, but the matches should further intensify and the challenges will become tougher for the top seeds to keep advancing.
