Pitt men’s soccer adds Drexel transfer Antonio Illuminato

Pitt men’s soccer team announced the addition of another talented player ahead of the 2024 season, as they found a new midfielder in the transfer portal.

Pitt announced the signing of Drexel transfer midfielder Antonio Illuminato, the first addition to the program following the end of the spring season.

With one year of eligibility, Illuminato contributed significantly at Drexel, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 16 games.

Hailing from Napoli, Italy, he brings experience from playing in Italian youth setups and will be a valuable addition to the Panthers.

The forward from Napoli, Italy is one of four transfers to join Pitt ahead of the Fall campaign, along with Casper Grening, Logan Oliver, and Casper Svendby.

Pitt men’s soccer didn’t have as much success last season as they did in previous years, finishing 6-7-4 overall. They still made it to the NCAA Tournament, their fifth straight appearance, but lost in the First Round to James Madison. The loss ended a streak of three straight Elite Eight appearances and two College Cups during that time for Pitt. Here’s the latest projected roster for Pitt as they head into the Fall 2024 campaign.
