Match Day Notes

It’s a pretty stacked boys schedule on Tuesday as most teams wrap-up their regular season.  Some section matches will still be happening in Class 3A and Class 2A, while the rest of the slate will feature non-conference matches as some teams look to finish strong while others look to stay sharp ahead of the playoffs.  Look for scores and updates to be posted on this thread later in the evening.

What We’re Keeping Our Eyes on…

Matches we’ll be watching closely in Class 2A, Section 2, where it’s a bit wacky. Then, there’s a logjame as three schools (Beaver Area, Keystone Oaks and Hopewell) each still have a chance to take fourth place.  The matches to watch will be Beaver Area at Riverside — If the Bobcats win this match, they can improve to 8-7-1, and could move into position to either tie or take the fourth place spot in this section.  Beaver will need Keystone Oaks to defeat or draw with Hopewell to earn a postseason spot or a chance to get into a play-in game situation.  Also, at the top, Avonworth has secured at least a share of the title, while Quaker Valley can earn a share of the title if they defeat Central Valley on Tuesday. This was all magnified due to a new rule regarding coaches needing to leave the entire school premises, as Beaver Area were forced to forfeit its match vs Keystone Oaks on September 28 (played as 2-1 Beaver win).  The standings posted on Sunday on Pittsburgh Soccer Now reflect this.
