Former Moon, Beadling SC standout Hailey Longwell named to Preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

When it comes to the Preseason Watch Lists for Division I men’s and women’s soccer’s most coveted individual award — the MAC Hermann Trophy — one prominent local star has made the cut.

Former Moon Area High School standout, Beadling SC alumna, and 2022 Moe Rosensteel Award winner Hailey Longwell is the lone player with deep Western Pennsylvania ties named to the 2026 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for forwards.

The MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded annually by United Soccer Coaches, is the most prestigious individual accolade in NCAA Division I college soccer, recognizing the national player of the year.

Longwell’s Rise: From WPIAL Champion to CAA Attacker of the Year

Longwell’s inclusion on the national watch list comes on the heels of a decorated career defined by local dominance and high-level collegiate production.

At Moon, Longwell was a dominant force, compiling 72 goals and 33 assists across three varsity seasons—missing her entire sophomore campaign due to an ACL injury. As a team captain, she guided the Tigers to back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA State Championships in 2021 and 2022. Her 36-goal, 15-assist senior season earned her the prestigious Moe Rosensteel Player of the Year Award, alongside Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year, All-WPIAL, and All-State honors. On the club circuit, she honed her game playing for coach Al Lopus at Beadling SC.

Longwell committed to Duquesne University, redshirting her true freshman season in 2023 while recovering from injury. She made an immediate impact in 2024 as a redshirt freshman, earning Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors after leading all Duquesne freshmen with six goals across 17 matches (9 starts).

Seeking a new chapter, Longwell transferred to UNC Wilmington—and her breakout sophomore season in 2025 made CAA history. She led the Seahawks to the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association South Division Championship and became the first player in UNCW’s 32-year program history to be named CAA Attacking Player of the Year.

Her standout 2025 campaign included:

• Offensive Production: Led UNCW with seven goals, four assists, and 18 total points, while recording a team-high 36 shots (17 on goal).

• Clutch Playmaking: Tallied game-winning goals against Charleston, Hampton, and William & Mary, alongside a game-winning assist against Hofstra and a game-tying goal against Elon.

• Conference Dominance: Led all CAA players with six goals and 15 points in conference play, scoring at least one point against every CAA South Division opponent and ending the regular season on a seven-match point streak.

• Postseason Honors: Named to the All-CAA First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Team.

To stay sharp in the offseason, the Moon native has continued to train and compete locally during the spring and summer with Beadling’s WPSL squad.

Mountaineer Trio Represents Regional Talent

Joining Longwell on the national watch lists are three key contributors from neighboring West Virginia University:

• Maddie Levy (WVU Women’s Soccer): The junior midfielder earned a spot on the Midfielders Watch List after establishing herself as a primary engine and playmaker for the Mountaineers.

• Nyema Ingleton (WVU Women’s Soccer): The senior defender landed on the Defenders Watch List, serving as an anchor for WVU’s backline heading into the fall season.

• Pablo Pozos (WVU Men’s Soccer): On the men’s side, the senior forward earned a nod on the Forwards Watch List coming off an 11-goal campaign in 2025 that saw him earn First Team All-Sun Belt honors.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by Division I All-America Committees to spotlight the nation’s top returning talent ahead of the official start of the college soccer season later this month.
