National Letter of Intent Day #PghSoccer College Commitments

Wednesday, February 1 — National Letter of Intent signing day — is one that a lot of high school senior soccer players have been looking forward to for a long time.

Norwin’s Lexie Kolano has commited to Cincinnati

Last week, the Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) got a head start in announcing 20 players who are high school seniors that had made their choices of which colleges they will be attending and continue to play soccer as they will be signing National Letters of Intent today.
Now that National Letter of Intent Day has arrived, Pittsburgh Soccer Report has compiled a ‘working list’ of many local soccer commitments that we know of from the Class of 2017. Thanks to some of the area coaches and to the RDA for providing this information.
Please keep in mind that this is simply a working list of what I’ve been able to obtain, and there are still a lot of High School seniors that are undecided and they have not formally signed NLI’s yet.  And there are always some top players that won’t pursue a college soccer career, selecting instead to focus on studies at some prestigious schools.
I will be looking forward to going to the South Side today at Highmark Stadium to talk in person with some of the RDA players that have made their selections, and in the coming days, we’ll also get the reactions from local college coaches as well about their incoming recruiting classes.
From our first look, the local college programs should be feeling optimistic this year that a number of outstanding players from Western PA have opted to stay close to home to sign with programs in our area.
Finally, I will be joining my colleague Mike Sparks next week, as we’ll be providing for a special edition Scholastic Soccer Show podcast on the Beautiful Game Network devoted to some of the recruitment and off season news that will include some player interviews and feedback from coaches.
Congrats to all the high school seniors who have made their selections and best of luck.
