No. 1 Pitt men’s soccer sees Friday’s match at Virginia Tech postponed due to inclement weather from Hurricane Helene

Pitt Men’s Soccer will have to spend another night in Blacksburg, as the team announced that their matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies, originally slated for 7pm Friday, had been pushed back 24 hours due to inclement weather.

Storms continue to sweep the eastern seashore as Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida early Thursday morning, continues its relentless trek north. With the National Weather Service’s Blacksburg outpost issuing flash flood warnings extending into Friday night for the region—as well as a tornado warning in nearby Franklin County, Va.—pushing the game back until Saturday, which as of 3pm today boasts a clear forecast, seems like the right decision.

The No. 1 ranked Panthers, winners of four in a row, enter their contest with Virginia Tech sporting a 7-1 record, including a perfect 3-0 mark in ACC play.
