Pitt men’s soccer program added another talented midfielder to its roster by announcing on Monday evening that they have signed Anders Bordoy, as a transfer from Memphis. Bordoy is a local standout who excelled at Kiski Area High School, played with the Riverhounds SC senior club in 2023 on USL Academy Contract and has been part of Steel City FC teams that captured back-to-back NPSL Great Lakes Conference titles in 2023 and 2024.

Bordoy is the second battle-tested collegiate midfielder that Pitt Head Coach Jay Vidovich has lured through the Transfer Portal, as Pitt announced the addition of Marshall transfer Marco Silva over the weekend.
In 2024, as a sophomore, Bordoy started 10 of 17 matches at Memphis, where he was teammates with another local product, Anthony DiFalco. Bordoy had two goals and three assists in 2024, as the Tigers finished in first place atop AAC in the regular season. The New Kensington native netted the game-winning goal at Belmont (Oct. 1) and scored Memphis’ lone goal in the AAC Semifinals vs. FIU (Nov. 14).
In his freshman season, for a team that also reached the AAC semifinal round and the NCAA Tournament, Bordoy started 11 of 17 matches, with four assists — including a pair in 2-1 win over South Florida (Oct. 27).
In April 2023, Bordoy made his debut for the Riverhounds senior team as a late substitution in the 2-0 win over the Maryland Bobcats. That was Bordoy’s lone appearance with the pro team, though he continued to train with them and compete with the Hounds Academy club before heading to college.
Pitt is expected to bring back a strong core from a team that reached the NCAA Elite Eight for the fourth time in five years and was very highly ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for much of the 2024 campaign.
Two players who won’t return in 2025, will be Michael Sullivan, who was taken by Toronto FC in the MLS SuperDraft and Casper Grening, who had a year of eligibility, but signed on with AB Copenhagen in his home country of Denmark.
