High School Soccer Scoreboard — WPIAL and PIAA Boys and Girls (Saturday, September 5)

It’s the second Saturday of the High School soccer season in Western PA.

The schedule will see all non-conference action as Labor Day weekend arrives.

Below are the boys and girls results from Saturday.  Teams will return from the tournaments for additional games on Sunday as a rare Sunday slate of Labor Day weekend matches features tournament championship and consolation action at Avonworth, Belle Vernon, and Chartiers-Houston.

Look for more detailed Boys and Girls Daily reports and some additional features to come on Sunday and Monday following Saturday’s action.

Girls High School Soccer Schedule

Avonworth Tournament

• Wheeling Park (WV) 3, Avonworth 0

• Erie Cathedral Prep 3, South Fayette 3

South Fayette and Erie Cathedral Prep played to a high-scoring 3-3 draw on Day 1 of the Avonworth Tournament. Gabby Beinecke led the Lions’ attack with two goals, while Abbey Spalla converted a penalty kick for the third tally. Avery Shubert picked up an assist on the day. South Fayette returns to action Sunday morning to face host Avonworth at 10:00 AM.

Belle Vernon Tournament

• Pine-Richland 2, Thomas Jefferson 2

Thomas Jefferson earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Pine-Richland at the Belle Vernon Tournament. Vivian Barron and Diya Bharati supplied the goals for the Jaguars. Charlotte Kine had a goal and assist for PineRichland.

• Makiah Buchak provided the lone goal for the Mustangs, finishing off a feed from McKenna Miller.

• Upper St. Clair and host North Allegheny fought to a 2-2 draw in a premier non-section clash between 4A powers. Abby Mascaro delivered both goals for Upper St. Clair, with Bella Blohm providing an assist. North Allegheny answered with tallies from Shannon and Brinkley to secure the result on home turf.
