Cameron’s clean sheet anchors defensive stand as RMU battles Eastern Michigan to 0-0 draw

NCAA Women’s Soccer

FINAL: Robert Morris 0, Eastern Michigan 0

In a physical, grueling affair at the North Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon, the Robert Morris Women’s Soccer team proved it could weather a storm. Behind a resilient low-block defense and a sharp six-save shutout performance from senior goalkeeper Emma Cameron, the Colonials earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Eastern Michigan.

With the result, RMU moves to 1-3-1 overall as their season-opening homestand continues.

Eastern Michigan (EMU) asserted its high line early, firing six shots within the opening 15 minutes in an attempt to pin the Colonials in their own defensive third. RMU’s backline—anchored for the full 90 minutes by defender Shauna Gamble alongside holding midfielders Bailey Campbell and Julia Becerra—absorb the initial waves of pressure to keep the match level.

The Colonials found their best dynamic attacking look in the 28th minute when senior forward Ava Trethewey unpicked the Eagles’ mid-block, driving a dangerous shot that curled just wide of the far post. Trethewey provided all of RMU’s final-third penetration on the afternoon, accounting for both of the team’s total shot attempts.

As the physical battle escalated, the referee’s whistle became a factor, with both sides combining for 26 total fouls. Campbell picked up a yellow card in the 44th minute as RMU closed down EMU’s central transition lanes before the break.

The Eagles continued to push their line higher in the second half, coming within inches of a breakthrough in the 65th minute when Ciara Brown struck a long-range effort that rattled off the crossbar. EMU earned late set-piece opportunities with two corners in the closing minutes, but Cameron’s command of her 6-yard box and structural positioning inside the 18 ensured the Eagles came away empty-handed.

Cameron’s six saves earned her first clean sheet of the 2026 campaign and the fifth shutout of her RMU career.
