Pitt Men’s Soccer blanked Boston College 2-0, with usual suspects Albert Thorsen and Luis Sahmkow each finding the back of the net, on Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The No. 2 ranked Panthers poured 13 shots in the direction of Eagles’ goalkeeper Brennan Klein, four of which went on target. Both of the Panthers‘ goals came off one-timers, with passes from the flank redirected past Klein at point blank range. Pitt goalie Carter Cabral, meanwhile, worked a four stop shutout.
Although the Panthers pressed early, they weren’t able to break the ice until the second half.
Defender Casper Svendby played up into the box, collecting Pitt’s first shot attempt of the game just under two minutes in but pushing it out of bounds.
Midfielder Arnau Vilamitjana came even closer, blasting a deep shot just out of reach of Klein… and harmlessly into the crossbar.
In the end, it was Svendby’s opportunism that put the Panthers ahead. Storming down the right side just after the break, the 21-year-old transfer from Dayton rocketed a pass into the box, setting up Thorsen for a silky smooth sliding one-timer.
That 🇳🇴 connection!

Carter took matters into his own hands on Boston College’s best chance at an equalizer, moving up to the edge of the box to cut off Eagles’ freshman Michael Asare and knock the ball away.
It was the Panthers who netted the decisive next goal, however, gaining much-needed insurance with six minutes to play. Sahmkow trickled down in front of the net, using nifty footwork to redirect a Casper Grening feed past Klein.
Pitt Men’s Soccer improves to 7-1 on the season (3-0 ACC).
They’ll next take the field in Blacksburg, Va. on Friday, September 27, facing the Virginia Tech Hokies in another conference matchup.
