Ticket, parking & other information to know for #WPIAL finals

For the fifth straight year, Highmark Stadium will play host to the WPIAL Soccer Championships this week starting on Thursday, Nov. 2 and concluding on Saturday, Nov. 4.
And of course, we’ll have coverage of all of the games — but if you are going here’s some information for you to know.
 
TICKET SALES
Ticket prices are as follows:      STUDENTS – $5.00                    ADULTS – $10.00
Pre-Sale Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com!
General admission tickets will be sold at the Highmark Stadium ticket window on the West side of the stadium beginning no EARLIER than one hour before the start of the first game.
Pre-kindergarten children will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  The entry gate is on the West side of Highmark Stadium.  There is a no re-entry policy for all of our soccer games at Highmark Stadium. 
Please note, one ticket covers attendance for all matches on the corresponding day. A new ticket must be purchased for any other days. The box office will open one hour prior to kickoff of the first game of each day.
FAN PARKING
Spectator parking is in lot on West side of stadium (closest to Fort Pitt Bridge) and spectators must pay a $7 event parking fee.
WEAPONS/DRUG/ALCOHOL POLICY
Persons under the influence or possessing alcohol or drugs will not be admitted and will be removed from the game if discovered later. Weapons (e.g.-firearm, knife, cutting instrument, bat, club) may not be possessed at WPIAL tournament games. Persons entering the game are subject to inspection for weapons, drugs, or alcohol. Persons in possession of drugs, alcohol or weapons will be required to leave the stadium and will be subject to appropriate action by security personnel and school officials.  The following items are prohibited at Highmark Stadium: 

  • No bags or backpacks  larger than 8”w x 8”h x 8”d in its natural state
  • No reentry
  • No outside food and/or beverage
  • No containers and/or coolers
  • No pets (other than service animals)
  • No bicycles
  • No weapons (regardless of permit, including but not limited to firearms or knives)
  • No umbrellas
  • No fireworks
  • No contraband
  • Smoking is prohibited on Highmark Stadium property

Any other items deemed unlawful or dangerous by Highmark Stadium staff and security personnel, in their sole discretion, may be prohibited.
Parents with small children are allowed to bring strollers and diaper bags, if needed.  These items are subject to reasonable inspection before entering and/or at any time during the event.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF GAMES 
Of course, I will be on hand for much of the weekend, beginning Thursday night.  In addition to my coverage of the games, we’ll have a photographer and will provide post-and-pre game coverage here on www.pittsburghsoccerreport.com, but also with updates and special features/videos on some of our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube).

        Thursday, November 2

6 p.m. – Girls 1A Final – Shady Side Academy vs Greensburg Central Catholic

8 p.m. – Boys 4A Final – North Allegheny vs Peters Twp

 

Friday, November 3

6 p.m. – Girls 3A Final – Moon vs Mars

8 p.m. –  Boys 1A Final – Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic vs Springdale

 

Saturday, November 4

11 a.m. – Girls 2A Final – Freedom vs Waynesburg

1:15 p.m. – Boys 2A Final – Shady Side Academy vs Quaker Valley

3:30 p.m. – Girls 4A Final – Norwin vs Penn Trafford Boys

5 p.m. -Boys 3A Final – Montour vs West Allegheny

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
