The Cinderella vs. The Dynasty: A fascinating matchup on the Station Square turf. Belle Vernon pulled off one of the most stunning postseason runs in recent WPIAL history, taking down No. 2 Deer Lakes and No. 3 North Catholic as a No. 10 seed to reach their first-ever modern stadium era final. Yet — to show how deep the 20-team Class 2A boys tourament has been, Belle Vernon only has one loss this season, but were designated as a No. 10 seed. On the other side stands Quaker Valley—the undisputed kings of the F.N.B./Highmark Stadium era with 3 titles since 2013 (across Class 2A and 1A) but 10 overall.
- Belle Vernon (17-1-2) knocked off No. 7 Beaver, 4-2; No. 2 Deer Lakes, 2-1 (OT); and No. 3 North Catholic, 2-0, to reach the WPIAL finals for the first time since 2011. Quaker Valley already has an established tradition with 10 WPIAL titles, the most recent coming in 2021. Quaker Valley defeated Freeport (2-0), Avonworth (1-0 2OT) and Ambridge (3-2 OT) to get to the Final again.
